If you are looking for something that would be engaging, entertaining, and educating your children or child companions, then the Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum is the place for you. The museum is unique in that it offers learning experiences to children in a way that is fun for them.
The exhibits on display are nothing short of amazing.
- One of the exhibits, the ‘Shadow Play’, displays your shadow on a massive, 2-story screen. As you move, your shadow increases or decreases in size and changes color.
- Another exhibit allows you to create a symphony by simply waving a wand. This wand controls pitch and volume. As you “conduct”, the sound takes on a visual manifestation in the form of an amber glow.
The museum’s design is absolutely brilliant. Children probably won’t even be aware of how much they are learning as they play and have an unforgettable experience. In the age of video games, CG animated films, and Internet, it is impressive to see a museum that can capture a child’s interest and imagination like the Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum.
The museum is open from 10am to 5pm Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, the hours are 12pm to 5pm. The admission prices vary depending on how many people are with you and what their ages are. Children under three are admitted for free.
For groups less than four, the price is $7 per person. In groups of four to ten people, admission is $6 per person. Groups larger than eleven people pay only $5 per person. Finally, seniors pay $6. The museum is located at 10 King Street West. Their phone number is 519-749-9387. Finally, their web address is http://www.wrcm.ca.
