Art and culture are at the forefront of this great Canadian gallery. However, this is not your typical museum, as the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery has much more to offer visitors than just seeing artwork. In fact, they offer:
- Exhibition interpretation
- Publications
- Guided tours
- Courses
- Workshops
- Lectures
- Demonstrations
- Symposia
- Conferences
The lectures and workshops are perhaps the most fascinating feature of this gallery; as you have the opportunity to not only learn about quality works of art, but also how to make your own masterpiece. Professional artists who have the passion and knowledge to properly educate up and coming artists conduct all of the lectures and workshops.
The gallery itself features clay, glass, stained glass, and enamel based works of art. Best of all, if you visit this gallery more than once, the experience will differ each time. This is because the gallery constantly changes which works are on display. If you choose to visit this gallery annually, you are sure to see radically different works of art with each visit.
The gallery is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday through Saturday. On Sunday, the hours are 1pm to 5pm. Unfortunately, the gallery is closed on Mondays (likely for volunteers and employees to have an opportunity to update which works are on display).
For a gallery of this magnitude, you might assume that the admission price is costly. Fortunately, if that is your assumption, then you are wrong. The price is a meager $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, or $7 for a whole family. This means that you and your family can get an entire afternoon of education and exhilaration for less than $10! You can’t beat a value like that.
Located at 25 Caroline Street North, in Waterloo, Ontario, this gallery is both fascinating and easily accessible. For more information about the gallery, such as scheduling a tour, or finding the times for a lecture or workshop, you can call them at 519-746-1882 or you can visit them on the web at: www.canadianclayandglass.ca. It’s highly recommend to visit the website, even if you cannot visit the gallery, as it has photos of some amazing works of art on display.
